The Facade XS solution for the renewed AJ Celebrezze tower was recently installed – a traversing roof car with a fixed jib that suspends a custom-made cradle which is no less than 10 m. (33 ft.) wide. The high-rise tower in Cleveland, Ohio has just been wrapped with a new glass facade that has been placed 0,8 m. (2,5 ft) over the old facade.

This glass facade required a new Building Maintenance Unit (BMU). This is another big project that was done in collaboration with Greg Beeche Logistics LLC (GBL), Partner of Facadexs in the United States. Working for dck, GBL provided all of the temporary suspended access platforms and material hoisting systems, for all phases of the construction of the new facade.

The new glass facade reduces the energy consumption of the building by creating a layer of still air for insulation. This $109 million renovation is part of a stimulus project by the American government, to make outdated government buildings ready for the future.

Our solution

With the new glass facade, the AJ Celebrezze Tower required a new building maintenance solution which we were was happy to provide. The sizeable BMU is equipped with a glass replacement unit and is restrained to the facade with a mullion guide rail. Despite its size, the entire BMU can be parked indoors when it’s not in use.

Cooperation between dck & Facadexs

Because of the tight deadline, time was of the essence. However, in close cooperation with the renowned contractor dck North America, we were able to overcome the challenges of this project.

The mullion guide rail integrated in the new facade.

Glass Replacement Unit

Replacing the windows of the original AJ Celebrezze tower was very expensive, which is one of the reasons why it was decided to give the building an entire new glass facade in the first place.

Now, thanks to the innovative Facadexs solution, workers can easily replace the windows on the outside of the building. A special glass replacement unit is used to transport large glass panels to the location of the replacement.

Testimonial

“Although Facadexs encountered several problems on this project, with our help, we were able to overcome them all and complete the rig in time. I can’t speak highly enough of the professionalism of Facadexs. I would absolutely recommend them and I hope we can do business again in the future.”
