MGM Cotai is a project under development along the Cotai strip in Macau. This magnificent structure – also known as the jewelry box – will house 1,500 hotel rooms and suites, meeting space, a high end spa, retail offerings and various outlets for food and beverages. It will also include the first international MGM Mansion, to provide high-rollers with the ultimate luxury experience.
JEC, one of our trusted partners in Asia, have been commissioned to supply a facade access solution for this grandiose building. Because of its remarkable design, the new resort requires a large number of customized Building Maintenance Units (BMU’s) for the maintenance of its facades.
That’s where our expertise comes into play – we will build no less than nine different BMU’s, all for this one building. The solution is installed by JEC.
Our project solution
Our Facadexs solution consists of numerous monorail systems and roof car solutions, customized to fit the design of the new resort. It includes five monorails which are used for Glass Replacement Units (GRU’s), and most of the roof cars are equipped with a GRU as well. In addition to a large number of standard and self-hoisting cradles, three extendable pantograph cradles will be used.
The following solutions will facilitate efficient maintenance work at heights, while ensuring the safety of the people behind the upkeep of the facades.
How BMU 1 – equipped with an extendable pantograph cradle– works.
Other implemented BMU’s for MGM Kotai project
BMU 7: Thirteen monorail systems, two of which are used for a GRU, with track lengths between 19 and 25 m (62 and 95 ft), suspending two self-hoisting gondolas up to 45 m (148 ft) down the facade. The GRU’s have a max. load of 500 kg (1102 lbs).
BMU 8: Thirteen monorail systems, two of which are used for a GRU, with track lengths between 18 and 29 m (59 and 82 ft), suspending two self-hoisting gondolas up to 45 m (148 ft) down the facade. The GRU’s have a max. load of 500 kg (1102 lbs).
BMU 9: One traversing roof car with a base height of 6 m (20 ft), suspending an extendable pantograph gondola up to 62 m (203 ft) down the facade. Equipped with a GRU with a max. load of 420 kg (926 lbs).
BMU 4: A traversing roof car with a base height of nearly 6 m (20 ft), suspending a standard gondola up to 69 m (226 ft) down the facade. Equipped with a GRU with a max. load of 500 kg (1102 lbs).
BMU 5: Five monorail systems, one of which is used for a GRU, with a length of 22 m (72 ft), suspending a self-hoisting gondola up to 45 m (148 ft) down the facade. The GRU has a max. load of 500 kg (1102 lbs).
BMU 6: Two traversing roof cars suspending extendable pantograph gondolas up to 55 m (180 ft) down the facade, with track lengths of 34 m (112 ft) and 56 m (184 ft). Equipped with a GRU with a max. load of 420 kg (926 lbs).
