Traversing roof cars with a fixed jib can be equipped with special functions according to the building and our customer’s requirements.

The motorized undercarriage moves the roof car over a rail track, so that it is able to reach a large facade surface. A rail track can be customized according to the dimensions of the roof, and can possibly be used by multiple roof cars.
The jib of the traversing roof car can be raised to bring a pantograph gondola closer to the facade under a balcony or canopy. The same function also enables a roof car to lift a gondola over a high parapet or roof edge.
A rotating spreader allows for adjustment of the direction of the gondola in relation to the facade. This makes it possible for workers to get close to curved facades or facade with a certain angle.
Our ergonomic gondolas allow workers to work on the facade in front of them while keeping a good posture – without straining the lower back. The tall back side of the gondola gives workers an increased sense of security.
The PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) for our BMU’s is designed so that it can be monitored remotely. This facilitates remote inspection and analysis of system faults, and the integration of BMU data in a BMS (Building Management System).
The roof car can be rotated to change the direction of the jib in relation to the rail track. This function is used when the gondola is lifted from the roof and suspended over the edge. It could also be used to work around the corners of a facade.
For roof cars with a luffing function, a balancer is used to prevent that the gondola starts leaning forward (when the jib is raised) or backwards (when the jib is lowered). The balancer keeps the gondola in a horizontal position at all times.
A GRU is an extra hoist that is suspended from the roof car, which can be used to lift or to lower windows. This way, glass panels can easily be moved to and from the location of the glass replacement.
All our roof cars can be equipped with a restraint system. This system connects the gondola to the facade, preventing that the gondola moves too far away from the facade, or starts swinging. This increases the safety of the BMU in windy conditions. A restraint system is for buildings that are 40 meters (131 feet) and above.

Traversing climbing roof cars

Climbing roof cars are used on buildings with sloping roofs. In a FacadeXS solution, climbing roof cars run on a rack and pinion rail track.

Just like traversing roof cars on a flat roofs, climbing roof cars can be customized to fit the building and can be equipped with special functions.
